EFFECTIVENESS OF A MODERN CRITERIA-BASED AND RUBRIC-BASED APPROACH IN ASSESSING STUDENTS' WRITING SKILLS

Abstract
This article analyzes the issues of developing and
assessing students' writing skills. During the study, traditional and
modern approaches to assessing written speech were studied and their
specific aspects were highlighted. Also, the main criteria used in
assessing written work - content, organization, spelling and punctuation,
word choice, language use, as well as the importance of components such
as critical thinking and creativity - are substantiated. The article
analyzes the elements of the rubric developed for assessing writing skills
and shows that they are important in developing students' written
speech.
