THE AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL SIGNIFICANCE OF TAPESTRY IN INTERIOR DESIGN

Abstract
This article elucidates, on the basis of in-depth scientific analysis, the place of tapestry art in interior design and its aesthetic and functional aspects. The historical formation of the tapestry, its means of artistic expression, its compositional features, and the possibilities of its application in contemporary interiors are analysed comprehensively. The article also examines on a scientific basis not only the significance of the tapestry as a decorative element but also its functional properties, such as heat retention, improvement of the acoustic environment, and the division of space into zones. Particular attention is likewise given to the harmony of the tapestry within national and contemporary design and to its impact on human psychology.
