THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE STILL-LIFE GENRE IN UZBEKISTAN PAINTING

Abstract
This article analyzes the history of the formation of the still life genre in the painting of Uzbekistan, its stages of development, and its distinctive national features. The evolution of the genre from ethnographic depictions to philosophical and symbolic content over the period from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day is examined. Drawing on the work of such prominent painters as Ural Tansykbayev, Rahim Akhmedov, and Zinaida Kovalevskaya, the article reveals the role of national color, the interplay of light and shade, and the "master–apprentice" traditions in the still life. The place of the still life in contemporary Uzbek painting and the interpretation of the symbolic images within it are also set out.
