Abstract

This article provides a scholarly analysis of the historical formation of geometric constructions and their application in architectural monuments. Beginning with the era of ancient civilisations, the constructive and aesthetic significance of geometric shapes is examined, and their place in architecture and decorative art is revealed. In particular, drawing on the example of girih patterns, regular polygons and circle-based compositions used in the historical monuments of Central Asia, it is shown how geometric constructions took shape as a perfect graphic system. The article also substantiates the fact that geometric constructions have not only decorative but also constructive and engineering significance. Methodological aspects of applying this knowledge in the teaching of technical drawing are likewise addressed.
