PEDAGOGICAL PRINCIPLES OF REPERTOIRE SELECTION IN FORMING MUSICAL CULTURE IN GENERAL SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Abstract

The article examines the profound influence exerted by the art of music on the emotional and spiritual development of the human being. Music is characterized as a form of art that unites humankind and reflects its inner experiences. Its role in the formation of the personality as a component of aesthetic education, and the influence of music on the upbringing of the rising generation from childhood onwards, are elucidated. The article presents the views and reflections of ancient philosophers on music, in particular those of Plato and Aristotle. The capacity of music to exert a positive influence on the human psychological state and the role of rhythm and melody in regulating mood are also discussed. Furthermore, the article emphasizes the inseparable connection of musical education with aesthetic education and its significance in broadening pupils' worldview, developing their creative abilities and forming national and universal human values. The article concludes that the art of music possesses not only an artistic but also an educational and philosophical meaning in human life and makes a considerable contribution to the maturation of the future generation.
