Abstract

The present article elucidates the role of musicology in the process of forming pupils' aesthetic taste. The article analyzes the essence of the concept of aesthetic taste, its significance for the spiritual maturation of the individual and the educational potential of musicology. Scientifically grounded views on the influence of music on the individual's psyche, thinking and moral outlook are also presented. The author indicates effective ways of employing modern pedagogical technologies, interactive methods and examples of national and world music in the teaching of musicology. According to the results of the research, it is demonstrated that musicology is an important factor in developing not only students' aesthetic taste but also their spiritual, emotional and creative potential.
