GENERAL THEORETICAL ISSUES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC

Abstract
The present article considers the general theoretical issues of classical music and the problem of classifying the national musical heritage. It is substantiated that the national musical heritage is composed of multi-layered, richly varied and stylistically diverse spheres relating both to creativity and to performance. Taking into account the fundamentally distinct characteristics and regularities of these spheres, the author proposes dividing the heritage into two large layers: the primordial lower layer, namely Uzbek musical folklore — an inseparable part of oral folk creativity that encompasses all forms, genres and currents of folk musical creativity; and the second layer, currently designated by the name "professional". The article elucidates the history of the formation of this term and the question of eliminating the confusions existing in musical terminology.
