THE FORMATION PERIOD OF EUROPEAN MUSIC PSYCHOLOGY AS A SCIENCE (19TH-20TH CENTURIES)

Abstract

This article studies the formation of music psychology as a field that arose in European scholarship at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, its methodological foundations and the work of its principal representatives. The article analyzes the identification of the points at which music and psychology intersect, the influence of music on the human psyche, and the experiments conducted on musical perception and emotional reflexes. On the basis of the research, an attempt is made to demonstrate that the scientific approaches of this period constituted the foundation of modern music psychology.
