DEVELOPMENT OF PERFORMANCE ON ACADEMIC FOLK INSTRUMENTS

Abstract
This article is devoted to the development of professional compositional creativity in Uzbekistan and to the process of formation of orchestras of Uzbek folk instruments. First of all, the article sets out the emergence of a new direction of performance on Uzbek folk instruments, that is, the distinctive features of the practice of performing on the basis of musical notation. It discusses the establishment of a research laboratory in 1943 and the significance for musical practice of introducing the twelve-step equal-tempered scale to Uzbek folk instruments. The article also provides detailed information on the formation of orchestras of Uzbek folk instruments, the influence of this process on the musical culture of the Central Asian and Transcaucasian republics, and the performance methods of these orchestras. It further addresses the process of creating the families of instruments that make up the orchestra of Uzbek folk instruments, their modernization and the touring concerts of the orchestra. The arrangement of folk tunes and songs for the orchestra during the early years of the Uzbek folk instruments orchestra, including innovations in the application of polyphonic techniques, is also discussed. By elucidating the enduring historical processes of Uzbek musical culture, the article helps to understand the social and artistic context of the orchestra's formation.
